There's a special place in my heart for professionals who work in education and in trauma-serving organizations. This of course includes schools, healthcare, and social service agencies. Most of my professional career has been dedicated to serving trauma survivors and their family members either as a therapist or program director. So, I recognize the toll trauma work can take on direct care staff and managers. If you are concerned about the wellness of your team, or would like to make sure that wellness remains strong, let's discuss how I can facilitate experiences for your staff marked by appreciation, respect, and candor about the sometimes very difficult work we do.
I've received specialized training in exploring ways to resolve challenges particular to Health & Human Service Professionals. This includes Compassion Fatigue (now becoming known as Empathic Strain), Burnout, Moral Distress, and Vicarious Traumatization. Schedule a free phone consultation so we can discuss ways to strengthen your team of helping professionals.
Effective working relationships are an important component of organizational success. With that understanding, I strive to have some serious, intentional fun with teams. We work to enhance communication, progress towards common goals, and, sometimes, just get to know each other better. I can offer anywhere from a one hour "tone setting" workshop to get you going for a team meeting, to a multi-day event around community building and vision planning. I'll work with you to creatively plan an engaging experience for your staff. What remains consistent is my dedication to achieving communal success while honoring unique perspectives, ideas, and experiences.
I started in the experiential learning field working with students from elementary to high school during after school programming. Fun and challenging at times! We enjoyed ropes courses together and in-classroom experiential activities. I can work with your students to promote personal empowerment, social-emotional development, mindfulness-based exercises, and conflict resolution. As a therapist, I'm also competent and comfortable discussing more difficult topics with students that involve students' safety and security.
Having a great amount of respect for teachers, school counselors, and administrators, I can help train these professionals to engage students in relationship building through experiential activities.
